This week, my readers have a chance to win 1 of 3 photobooks for Father’s Day from Photobox. It’s a fantastic prize.
When I was growing up we would while away many an afternoon leafing through heavy tomes of photo albums in my grandparent’s house. Then there were the hours spent looking at slideshows that my Aunt had made by hand with her projector and individual slides. The sign of a good recipe in our house is a cookbook that has splatter stains and little photographs held in with paperclips. You know the type, where the page falls open “just so” and you know that the recipe has been leafed past many, many times before.
Nowadays though the only regular photo album in my house is from our wedding day and while I read cookbooks like they’re going out of fashion, my phone and digital camera are my go-to spots for family images and recipes. I’ve even been known to snap a favourite recipe from Mam’s cookbook to take home and refer to.
So when Photobox asked me would I like to print off a photobook for a review I had a real quandry. Do I prepare an A4 photobook of treasured family photos for us to have at home and share with our family OR a cookbook with my best recipes from the blog to pass on to the 13 year old – who is possibly my biggest fan?
In truth I’ve been using the service to print my individual photos for a number of years but I’ve always shied away from creating a book. I thought that it would be too fiddly, what would I do if my photos weren’t good enough quality? It’s surprisingly easy to create a photobook though, the uploading function runs in the background while you browse elsewhere and you’re even alerted if your photos aren’t high resolution enough.
I’m in the process of creating that cookbook for the 13 year old by special request and I will admit it is a little time consuming but the print quality from Photobox is outstanding which softens the effort that I’m putting in. She’d better appreciate it!
As Father’s Day is this Sunday, what better way to celebrate than to hold a competition for 3 lucky readers to win an A4 personalised photobook to give to a special Dad?

Photobox provided me with a credit to create an A4 cookbook in order to complete this review. They have also sponsored a competition to provide 3 individual photobooks to my readers. My opinions remain my own.
