Great Parenting Questions

Yesterday being Valentine’s Day I stuck up a quick update that read: “My love for you is as solid as a day old dish of Weetabix”

The solid state of dried Weetabix being one of life’s great parenting questions. Which got me to thinking about all the other ones…..

The children wake at 5am at the weekends, and yet you have to drag them out of bed for school during the week.

The toddler will scream for ages for me by name while I’m upstairs taking a shower (and he’s safely with his Dad), yet when I get downstairs he studiously ignores me.

A wet patch on the sofa is never just a wet patch.

Spontaneous expressions of “sorry Mammy” are normally a precursor to me discovering something major is broken.

It doesn’t matter how nice the food is that I cook in this house, it will never surpass a “mammy dinner”.

There is never enough tea at optimal temperature.

My 5 year old is capable of getting his school uniform dirty in the millisecond between putting it on and getting his coat on.

Saying the word “bottom” brings great mirth.

Silence, when a child is not asleep, is always a cause for suspicion.

Even if you only curse once in front of your child, you can be guaranteed they will repeat said curse in the most awkward of situations.

Leaving chocolate unattended is never a good idea.

I’m sure there are many more in your house, do feel free to share!

I'm an Irish mother to 2 boys, born & bred in Dublin, Ireland. I like to cook simple & fresh food for the family, with the family on a budget.
