Mienas Handmade Nougat
Miena and I used to work together in an industry as unrelated to food as possible. Considering we both worked for a company that had less than 10 employees it’s pretty amazing that two of us have ended up following our passion for food.
Passionate is a great word to describe Miena herself. When you put somebody who is so much in love with great quality produce, handcrafting and attention to detail into a room with brilliant ingredients you’re always going to come up with a fantastic product.
When Mam visited the Craft Fair in Dublin, she came home with some samples for me to try out. Miena had generously sent me tickets to visit the fair but I just couldn’t make it in. So home came a bag of almond and pistachio nougat and another bag of hazelnut and chocolate nougat.
Hands down my favourite was the almond and pistachio flavour. There was a great balance of salt and sweet. Mind you the chocolate and hazelnut nougat went down well too. Having eaten the real deal in Provence, I can tell you that this handmade Irish version is an equal match for nougat from France. As a family, Miena’s household have been perfecting this beautiful product for years. I hope they go from strength to strength. You can buy the nougat directly from Miena on her website by clicking here and she also has a Facebook page.
Disclosure: Miena provided me with some samples for the purposes of this review. My opinions are my own.

I just can’t make my mind up which of MIena’s flavours I like best. I guess I’m just going to have to keep on testing it 🙂

Hi Liz, it’s not my nougat! I think you can get it in selected SuperValu stores and fine food stores. If you contact Miena directly she’ll be able to help you out and I think she does sell directly from her website.
