New Christmas Traditions

photo-002This year is the first year that the 4 year old has been an active participant in preparing for Christmas. Not just enjoying the lights or the present unwrapping.

He has loved decorating the tree, singing the songs and chatting to all and sundry about what Santa will bring him.

It has always been a tradition in my house to only ask for a “surprise” and funnily enough he is getting loads of attention for proclaiming that is all he wants. It seems to be unusual in my neck of the woods anyway, to simply ask for whatever Santa wants to give you. We were never disappointed as children and I am confident that he won’t be either.

Yesterday he arrived home from school with a bag of homemade decorations. This is one of the many that now adorn our tree and I love it.

Christmas isn’t just a time for revisiting old traditions, it’s a time for making new ones.
