At Your Service
This is one of those blogposts that isn’t really about me. If you’re a regular reader you’ll know that as a family we follow the “whole sum” method when it comes to parenting/living our lives. It’s not just about eating well and our friends and family know this too!
With the kids, school and home commitments sometimes it’s more practical for my husband to get out and volunteer to do activities. Which is what happened in November when he, along with his Dad, got involved in working on the garden for CASA Ireland in Malahide for the At Your Service Christmas Special on RTÉ on St Stephen’s Day. The garden design was the responsibility of our good friend Peter Donegan who recorded this nifty before & after of the work that they all did on site over quite a number of days.
Both the lads are very camera-shy and are embarrassed to find that they popped up here and there in the scenes. They didn’t hang around for the final reveal, they were only interested in knowing the job was done.
If you want to catch up on the show itself you can view it on the RTÉ player by clicking here.
Not only did the lads put in long hours working in the garden but they also worked their day jobs every single day that they were on site. Some days himself left at 6am to go to work and would have got home past 9pm. It was worth it. The garden is fabulous thanks to Peter’s great design and all the hard work from the many volunteers (of which my family were only 2).
Well done. I’m incredibly proud of you all. You’ll find all the information on the show and the many people who contributed time/products/services over on Peter’s blogpost above.

Well done Peter and the lads, and all the other great volunteers, fundraisers and everyone who has made it possible. Giving time is something we can all do, however broke we are, but very few give as generously as your lot. Hope the Christmas season is going well and the New Year will reward you 🙂

I watched the show and I must say I was a wee bit choked up at the end. There was a tear in the eye. Fair play to your hubby and everyone else who gave up their time for this fantastic project. Good karma!!
